Reasons Why You Should Not
The general public is hereby warned against buying washed bitter leaves from the markets.
The housewives or cooks do buy the bitter leaves from market because they do not have time or strength to wash the leaves by themselves.
Unfortunately, people do not know that most of the washed bitter leaves being sold in the markets or supplied to them are washed with dirty waters, even so with waste water. That is one of the reasons the bitter leaves people purchase from the markets or suppliers do appear ‘burnt’ – the natural colour is not there.
Even where the suppliers wash the bitter leaves in rivers and streams, people easily forget that the rivers and streams are the collection points of all kinds of faeces littered on the high lands, which are washed down by floods and rains.
Likewise, all the urine that people release outside are flushed down into these rivers and streams
Very disappointingly, all kinds of people go into the rivers and streams to take bath, which means that buying washed bitter leaves from the markets is just same as cooking with the water that people have bathed with.
The situation is so bad that even government officials and health inspectors neglect their oversight functions.
And the health and medical workers do not consider it as one of their primary duties to prevent diseases and infections.
The best ways are:
1. It is ether that you wash the biter leaves by yourself.
2. Or, buy the unwashed bitter leaves, and then invite trustworthy suppliers to come to your house and wash the leaves for you.
Too late already, because so many families and individuals have eaten into their bodies all types of pollutions, contaminations, wastes and sickness, because of the general neglect of this very important aspect of our lives and domestic responsibility. Be warned, because prevention is better than cure.
